IN THE BEGINNINGGGGGGG

Ok so here we go. The beginning of our remix history and what better place to start than at the very beginning.

Paper Scissors - We Don't Walk (Hey Now Remix)

This was our very first remix and first ever project we worked on as Hey Now. A very sentimental memory for us. This remix had a nice little run in the Sydney scene with both Bagraiders and Like Woah! playing it at FBI and We Love Sounds festivals, which was a huge moment for us. Ajax played it on FBI radio along with some very encouraging words. So encouraging infact....we moved on to our next remix.

Grafton Primary - I Can Cook (Hey Now Remix)

We remember seeing one of Grafton Primary's first ever gigs and we were in love instantly. They are such an epic good band. They turned out to be close friends in the future. This was featured on their online "Relativity" EP. We sampled The Who in this track...see if you can find it.

Pomomofo - Islands (Hey Now Remix)

Crazy cats from Sydney. We actually made their chorus our verse, their verse our bridge and so on. Completely turned it round. It's a fun little flighty track with a slightly deeper bridge. This was also featured on Pomomofo's "In Super VGA" EP.

Now the reason we posted all these 3 remixes together is because it was definately our solid first sound. We have evolved immensely since these remixes but we still feel they can stand up on their own. Alot of you have probably never heard these aswell so you might find a little gem that you didn't know we made.

We were also very young and innocent to the world back then....check it out....

Hansom and Rose DJing at Candys Apartment in Sydney which used to be our residency home for years. Hansom was baby faced and trim, but what the hell was Rose doing? A badly dyed black mullet?? Wow Rose.

Now for our first ever megamix....

The Gaywatch Megamix was also a huge thing for us, gaining us alot of attention which in turn gained us our first ever interstate gigs in Melbourne and Brisbane. Getting on a plane to DJ was such a crazy thing for us at the time!! Now we feel like we spend a large chunk of our lives in airports....the novelty has worn off.

We still love this megamix to this day and still think it's one of our most solid mixes we've ever done. It's a definite snapshot of what we sounded like when we started out and the type of sets we used to play. Have a listen....let us know what you think.

THE HEY NOW GAYWATCH MEGAMIX

Thanks for reading once again. More to come very soon :)

PS - Rose still has 3 gigs left over the Easter weekend on his mega cool Brisbane tour. Go say hi and tell him how bad that dyed black mullet used to look. (Rose is playing a secret set at Monastery on Easter Saturday night....but don't tell anyone)

Peace
Hey Now

  1. Guys, I would be suuuuper happy if you could re-upload the gaywatch megamix. The link isn't working. I used the jam that mix a ton, but I've lost it and would love to have it again!
